Picturesque Whangaroa Harbour is just a 5-10 minute drive away from Tauranga Bay.
Visit Whangaroa Harbour to see unique landforms left by eroded volcanoes, clad in some of the last coast forest in New Zealand. A large number of ancient Maori sites and other archaeological features are also to be found here.

Take a walk around the harbour, bring the family to see some huge game fish coming in at the weigh station or grab some bait from the local store and drop a line over one of the jetties. The Marlin Hotel is a great spot for a nice cold beer and some fresh cooked scallops. The Marlin Hotel also has a big-screen TV with SKY (great for when the big games are on).
You'll also find the Whangaroa Big Game Fishing Club at Whangaroa harbour - a nice place to enjoy a meal while you watch the yachts cruise in.
Kingfish Lodge (reached only by boat) is an acclaimed and exclusive restaurant perched over the water in a secluded part of the harbour, offering fine dining in a unique setting.
